Show Campus Diggings Construction is proceeding rapidly and visibly on two large projects on campus. After the dramatic leveling of the old observatory north of the present Physics Building, no time was wasted in fencing off the entire area north of the present Physics Building, Kingsbury Hall and the Music Hall and in digging the foundation for what will be the new Physics and Chemis'try Building. On the grass between the Union Building and the In'tercultural Center another fenced-off area is the scene of construction for a new Union cafeteria area. It will be one level below and directly underneath the present cafeteria and will considerably alleviate the heavy rush-hour demands currently placed on the cafeteria cafe-teria and the Huddle. The temporary inconvenience caused by the mud, closed roads and other unavoidable side-effects of large-scale construction is certainly worth it, especially especial-ly considering the pressing need for new buildings and the long waiting for appropriations which only recently were approved. |
