Show Grapplers Test Mats In Northwest Schools Utah's improved wrestling squad fresh from two wins last week will travel to the northwest for some tough competition provided by the matmen from Oregon, Oregon State and Washington Wash-ington Universities. The Utah squad with 13 lettermen returning and all but one sophs or juniors will be more experienced and stronger than they have when the Beavers topped them 22-6 last season. Ray Campos at 123 leads the squad with Bob Brown, 130, Carl Monahan, 157 and Marv Kizerian, heavyweight leading the squad. OTHER STARTERS include co-captain Reiner Prawitt at 177, Dennis Mangrum at 147, Al Carter Car-ter at 137. Carter is a transfer from Oklahoma Ok-lahoma and the rest of the starters come from the Salt Lake area. HESS HAD several good seasons sea-sons in the Skyline Conference taking a pair of seconds with his best year in 61 when he finished at 11-2. Last year the Utes ran up a 9-9 record with one tie. The Utes are off to a good start this season with one WAC win over Arizona in the only conference encounter so far. The Utes will also travel to Seattle to met the University of Washington Saturday after the Thursday and Friday meets with the Ducks at Eugene and the Beavers at Corvallis. |
