Medics5 To Take Part In Chicago Biology Meet The University College of Medicine Med-icine will be well represented at the 48th annal meeting of the J Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology in Chi-, Chi-, j cago, April 12 through 17. It is . i one of the largest scientific meet-j meet-j ings held anywhere in the world. ' THERE ARE 2,900 papers on the program, with more than 5,000 scientists involved in their preparation. More than 17,000 scientists from the United States I and 45 foreign countries are expected to attend. Forty-seven members of the University medical medi-cal faculty, studentbody and research re-search groups are concerned with 21 of the papers. This includes in-cludes 23 members of the full-time full-time faculty, four undergraduate medical students and the 20 research re-search associates, assistants and fellows. Three of the undergraduate undergra-duate medical students will read papers before the convention. Subjects to be covered by. the Utah College of Medicine delegation dele-gation to the Federation meeting meet-ing will include regulation of respiration, pathology, antigens and antibodies, gastroenterology, coagulation, cell structure and function, immune response, elec-trophysiology elec-trophysiology of the heart and others. The number of College of Medicine participants is greater great-er this year than any previous year, while the total number of scientific papers accepted by the Federation is significantly signifi-cantly less In number this year than in 1963. A total of 18 papers were presented pre-sented by College of Medicine scientists in 1963, compared to 21 in 1964. |
