Show Utes Face Last Foe Tomorrow Utah will close the toughest season in Redskin grid history as the Utes travel to meet the number 19 team in the nation, Utah State. THE UTAGS, under Tony Kapp, will be after their third straight win over the Redskins and their ninth win of the year against one defeat. For the Aggies this is their biggest game. It is not only trie resumption of a traditional rivalry that began 71 years ago, it is me first time in years the classic will be staged in Logan. For the hard-luck Redskins it will be just another game against one of the toughest teams in the country. Coach Ray Nagel will be looking for his third win over the Ags in six starts ac he moves his three win, seven loss Redskins into Romney Field. Utah State is led by one of the finest all around quarterbacks in the nation in Bill Munson. Munson set a season passing record two weeks ago and has completed over 100 passes in nine contests. Fullback Larry Campbell leads the Aggie rushers with over 500 yards on the groud and an average of 8.0 yards per carry. Halfbacks Darell Steele and Larry Bryan are averaging nearly seven yards a carry and it will take a superior defensive effort to stop this all-around offensive threat. UTAH, still strong in WAC total defense and first in conference passing pass-ing defense, could pose this threat. Utah's attack should be at full ctrength after their shabby but heart-breaking loss to California. Hertzfeld boosted his total offense mark to 1053 yards Saturday, and his passing total climbed to 834 yards with a .478 percentage. Fullback Allen Jacobs was nominated for back-of-the-week honors after grinding out 98 yards against the Bears and pushing his squad leading rushing total to 523 yards for a 4.6 average. Ron Coleman and Andy Ireland rank two, three in rushing with 356 and 237 yards respectively. res-pectively. Ireland and Merrill Brinton lead the regulars in yards per carry with six each. Jacob's three touchdowns against the Bears pushed him into the Skin scoring leadership with 42 points, one better than end Roy Jefferson's total. Utah has out-offensed, out-passed, and out-scored their opponents this year. Utah is only 16 yards 'behind their opponents; in rushing yardage. The Utes are only four first downs behind their opponents. Utah is only one fumble behind their opponents. After facing Oregon State, Arizona State, Wyoming, Army, California, Idaho, New Mexico and CSU, the Utah State game will be just another contest of bigger size and experience against determination and speed. |
