Show LettenJoJEditor Is Wilkinson A Communist? i Dear Editor: The following is a partial copy of a CIC Bulletin which dealt with the background of Frank Wilkinson Wilkin-son who snoke on campus Friday. . ON DEC. 7, 1956, Anita Scheider, an undercover agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Investiga-tion, appeared before the House Committee on Un-American Activities. Activ-ities. She testified, under oath, that Frank Wilkinson was a member mem-ber of the Communist Party. Wilkinson Wil-kinson appeared before the committee com-mittee on the same day, and when confronted with the sworn testi-mnnv testi-mnnv identifying him as a Corn- Southern California District Council, Coun-cil, District Chairman Dorothy He'aley "declared that the party preferred public protest meetings to be held by the Citizen's Committee Com-mittee to Preserve American Freedoms Free-doms rather than under Party auspices because Communists could attend without danger of being exposed as members of the Party." 6. In 1958, Wilkinson refused to answer questions posed by the House Un-American Activities Committee during hearings in Atlanta, At-lanta, Georgia. As a result he was indicted in-dicted for contempt of Congress and his conviction was affirmed by the Supreme Court of the United States. In part, the Court's decision in Wilkinson vs. United States declared that the House Committee on Un-American Activities Ac-tivities "had reasonable grounds to suppose that the petitioner (Wilkinson) was an active Communist Com-munist Party member ..." 3. MR. WILKINSON also serves as Executive Secretary of the Citizen's Committee to Preserve American Freedoms, which was created in Los Angeles in 1959 and which has been cited as a Communist Front.
