Show 9 bunna, But 9 JieaAfr By STEVE WILLIAMS We'd like to call our readers' attention to Alice Cook's review of the book "Billions, Blunders and Baloney," which is published pub-lished in this i.sisue of The News. The book, by Eugene W. Castle, should,' we think, be in j every school library, every pub- lie library, and every home in America. It is available from j the Devin-Adair Company, publishers, pub-lishers, 23 East 26th St., New York 10, N. Y. i After reading the book, and realizing that the theme song of many of the European nations we pour billions into i; still: j "Yankee, Go Home!" we think , the theme song- of the grass j roots American might well be: "Yankee dollar, STAY home!" I i BRACK CAN SPELL I BETTER THAN THAT ! ! In last week's issue we published pub-lished a few letters from promi-! nc-nt persons in the "Pathways to Citizenship" column edited by the Sixth Graders. But as occasionally happens, the type got into the form without being proof read, and the letter from j Gov. J. Bracken Lee to Zola Hollingshead looked like some- thing a First Grader had writ-: ten. Brack can spell better than that there wasn't an error any- j where in his letter to Zola, and we apologize both to Gov. Lee and the Sixth Grade. i I Bill Gillespie of South Milford Mil-ford had sort of a narrow escape es-cape the other day. He was gathering up a bucket of coal to stoke the stove, and ran across a live dynamite cap, compete with wires, etc., in the coal pile. Bill figures it was one that wasn't "hooked up" at the mine, and is still shaking at the mere thought of what would have happened to his stove and home if he hadn't noticed it. Posies this week to the spud truck drivers, who, we are told by a resident of the neighborhood, neighbor-hood, always 6low to a crawl as they pass theSixth South and , Second West corner, where small children are usually playing play-ing in the street or on the parkway park-way between the sidewalk and street. So congratulations to the potato po-tato truck drivers for their thoughtfulness and carefulness. |
