Show JVOTE TUESDAY my. 4th :;: And Here's How to Mark Your Ballot . . s.j M$;; We aren't presuming- to tell our readers how they should vote in Tuesday's General Election,' but after hearing- for j several years many Arguments on the various ways of mark- ing a ballot, and what constitutes a spoiled ballot, we believe I a few examples will be welcomed by the voters. The election laws state that "if the judges can understand under-stand without question the INTENT of any voter, the ballot bal-lot is legal and must be counted ; however, to avoid any possible pos-sible misunderstanding, if the ballot is marked according to one of the samples appearing on this page, it is definitely a legal ballot. Eacli of these samples has been checked and jjj1, okehed by attorneys who have studied the election laws. THIS IS THE WAY TO MARK THE BALLOT. THE CROSS AT THE TOP MEANS HE IS VOTING FOR EVERY CANDIDATE ON THE TICKET EXCEPT THE ONES WHO ARE SCRATCHED. AND ON A SCRATCH HE MUST MARK AN X IN THE SQUARE OF THE CANDIDATE ON THE OTHER TICKET OR WRITE IN THE NAME OF AN INDEPENDENT. SHOULD THE VOTER FAIL TO MARK AN X AFTER THE NAME OF ANOTHER CANDIDATE. CAN-DIDATE. OR WRITE IN A NAME. THE BALLOT IS COUNTED FOR ALL CANDIDATES IN THE PARTY UNDER THE X. EXCEPT EX-CEPT THE ONE SCRATCHED OUT. BUT THE CANDIDATE FOR THAT OFFICE IN THE OTHER PARTY DOES NOT RECEIVE A VOTE UNLESS AN X IS MARKED AFTER HIS NAME.
