EMILY GILLINS Milford News Minersville Edilor resides in a Southern state, have been here spending a welcome vacation with the Stewarts and renewing acquaintances with their grandchildren. Pfc. Noel Wood, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wood, arrived home Saturday from Camp Cook, Calif., where he has been stationed sta-tioned the past four months. He is one of a nine-man chew for a 75-mm rccoilless rifle handling heavy explosive. Previous to arriving at Camp Cooke, Noel received his basic training at Camp Roberts. He entered service serv-ice Nov. 20, 1951. The Junior Gleaner class of the M I A enjoyed a three-day outing at the Girls Home m Beaver Canyon last week. Chaperoned Chap-eroned by Maxine and Aldean Marshall, the girls participating were Lois and Louise Thompson, Thomp-son, Dorothy Eyre, LaNae Davis, Patricia Carter, Joelene Wood and Marlene Baker. Mr. and Mrs. George Hatch of Salt Lake were overnight guests of Mrs. Pauline Carter, Wednesday. Wednes-day. Mrs. Hatch is a granddaughter grand-daughter of Mrs. Carter. Mrs. Ruth Hayward and three children of Ely, Nev., spent the greater part of the week with her mother, Mrs. Alba Gillins, and visiting her brothers and sisters. Mrs. Maude Woolley and chil- Mrs. Edith Armstrong and son of Cedar City spent several days last week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sim Mur-dock. Mur-dock. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pryor spent the week-end in Ely enjoying en-joying the horse races. They were guests of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Byron By-ron Limb. Byron recently underwent un-derwent an operation for appendicitis. ap-pendicitis. A Baker family reunion was held Sunday at Ponderosa Park in Beaver Canyon. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Rollins and family were among those attending from Minersville. Min-ersville. Mr. and Mrs. Karen Carter announce an-nounce the arrival of their third 1 child, a son born Aug. 23 at the ! Iron County Hospital. The Carters Car-ters also have a daughter and another son. Mr. and Mrs. George Anderson and two children of Stockton, Utah, spent last week visiting Mrs. Augusta Marshall and family. fam-ily. Mrs. Anderson is a granddaughter grand-daughter of Mrs. Marshall. Chris Marshall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Marshall, celebrated cele-brated his fifth birthday Sunday. His mother arranged a delightful delight-ful party for the group which attended. Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Marshall, Mar-shall, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Marshall Mar-shall and Mr. and Mrs. Alton Marshall were among those attending at-tending the Ely horse races last week-end. Parents of Cecil Stewart, who dren of Salt Lake and Mrs. Mabel Gentry of Beaver were dinner guests Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Heber Gillins. Gil-lins. An outing in the canyon was enjoyed Thursday night by a group honoring the birthdays of Newell Carter, on August 22, and Mrs. Sylvia Davis on Aug. 29th. Those participaitng were Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Blackburn, Black-burn, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Marshall, Mar-shall, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Carter, and the Carters and Davises. |
