Show EARL J. GLADE SPEAKS TO MILFORD GROUP Salt Lake City's Mayor Earl J. Glade, candidate for the Democratic Dem-ocratic nomination for governor, met with representatives of the various civic and fraternal organizations or-ganizations of Milford at a noon dinner meeting in the I O O F hall last Tuesday. Mrs. Eva i Stonehocker, Beaver County Democratic vice-chairman, was in charge of the local arrangements arrange-ments and introduced Mayor Glade and Dan Vhalen, who accompanied ac-companied him. Mayor Glade spoke briefly, reviewing re-viewing state. and national matters, mat-ters, and stressed the importance to the state of good schools, and I J? "sj Mayor Earl J. Glade support of the schools by all factions. He pointed out that Utah has, now slipped from the position occupied five years ago, when this state led the nation in education. He also urged Democratic party cooperation with the American Legion's get-out-the-vote campaign, citing figures showing that in the last presidential presi-dential election, few groups of citizens could show a 50 voting vot-ing record. In speaking of the two major Dolitical parties, Mayor Glade expressed the opinion that there "is really very little difference between the two parties; one is just a little left of the middle and the other a little to the ' right," with statesmen of both parties walking parallel courses. Mayor Glade was favorably impressed with the South Milford Mil-ford farming area, and asked to be escorted through the pumping district on his way to Minersville and Cedar City. He also expressed a desire to look further into the possibilities possi-bilities of completing the road north a'ong the U P tracks to Delta and Salt Lake City. |
