Hoyt of Neplii ' is a candidate for justice of the Supreme Court of Utah for the term ending in lQC"? which was made vacant by the resignation of Justice George W. Latimer. The post was filled until the coming election by appointment of Justice F. Henri Henriod. Judge Hoyt is serving his fouth term as judge of the Fifth Judicial District, embracing embrac-ing the counties of Juab, Millard, Beaver, Iron and Washington. Wash-ington. Prior to becoming district dis-trict judge he was a member of the State Legislature where he was an active advocate of criminal crim-inal law reform, tax reform and removal of the school system from partisan politics. He has also served as secretary of the code revision committee, chairman chair-man of the committee of bar examiners of the Utah State Bar, president of the District Judges Association, and is now a member of the Utah committee commit-tee of the section of judicial administration of the American Bar Association. He is a veteran vet-eran of World War I and assisted assist-ed in organizing the first American Amer-ican Legion post in Utah. He is an active member of the LDS Church and served for five years as stake president of the Juab Stake. He is married and has five children. His wife was formerly Vivian Petersen of Salt Lake Citv |
