Conflicting stories of responsibility explaining the reason for gardens being de- ! prived of water for the long ' period of time would be appre- ' ciated by the forum and will be published in this co'umn. Mrs. Emily Gillins. I Mr. and Mrs. Marion Jameson have returned to Minersville to ; spend several months. They will return to St. George, where they spent the winter and spirng, as soon as "Old Sol" begins to move on. Mr. and Mrs. Burnell Lamb, accompanied by Mrs. I. H. ' j I Lee Gillins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Gillins, left Sunda for Fort Bliss, Texas, to resume : his army training after spending a 10-day furlough with his par-cits. par-cits. Lee has completed his basic training and is now engaged en-gaged in heavy equipment opera-1 tion. Friday evening the Gillins ' family, in honor of Lee, were j dinner guests at the home of Mrs. I Alba Gillins. ' ! Mrs. Cora Goodwin returned I home during the week after con-. valescing at the home of Mrs. Lela Gibson of Enoch. Mrs. M. D. Fisher a'so returned to her j residence after spending the i week at the home of Mr. and I Mrs. Parley Fisher in South Milford. American Legion Auxiliary ! was held Thursday, Aug. 7, at the home of Mrs. Athene Rob-1 erts. Vice President Mrs. Edna I Baker conducted the business meeting, which included discus-1 sion of the serious fly condition. , and the possibility of a young j people's project in Minersville. The auxilia. y recently donated 15 to the local girls' baseball I j team to help defray expenses. ! A dessert course was served to Mrs. Barbara Gressman, Mrs. . Phy'lis Truman, Mrs. Effie Marshall, Mar-shall, Mrs. Lynnea Marshall, Mrs. Elinor Marshall, Mrs. Gertrude Ger-trude Marshall, the hostess and Mrs. Baker. Mrs. Virginia Marshall was hostess to a birthday party in honor of her husband. A lovely j ham dinner was served to Mr. ; and Mrs. Claus Marshall, Mr. ; and Mrs. Jeff Marshall, Mrs. Barbara Gressman, Mr. and Mrs. Fay Marshall. After dinner the evening was spent visiting. Two babies were blessed and christened recently at church j services. Annette Truman was I given a blessing by her father, I Kail Truman, and Lee Waters I conferred the name of Richard i Lee upon his son with his blessing. bless-ing. The Roberts' accompanied- thera home for a short visit. Joy Carter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Carter of Trona, Calif., is here visiting her many friends and relatives. i Work and business meeting was held Tuesday by the Relief Society, under direction of President Pres-ident Mrs. Frieda Wood. A hot plate lunch was served by Mrs. Aletha Gillins, Mrs. Barbara Gressman, Mrs. Beulah Wood, Mrs. Ima Pryor and Mrs. Hilda Marshall. A Bradshaw reunion will be held at Hurricane on Aug. 24th at the home of Ray Bradshaw. All descendants are invited to attend. The program will begin at 10:30 a. m. I Marshall Hollingshead chauf-f chauf-f ered his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J Stephen Hollingshead, to northern north-ern Utah Saturday, where they will remain with Mr. and Mrs. Ruion Hollingshead for an indefinite in-definite time. They will also visit Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hol-! Hol-! lingshead of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Effie Marshall was hostess host-ess at a birthday party in honor of her daughter Aldean recent-I recent-I ly. A plate lunch was served to ( the immediate Marshall family and their children, numbering about 30 persons. The evening was great1 y enjoyed and Miss Marshall received many lovely remembrances. Ross Marshall was also on the 'happy birthday" list last week when the Marshall family gathered gath-ered at his home to enjoy an evening of visiting and refreshments. refresh-ments. Miss Maxine Marshall is in Provo, a guest of her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Smith. Mrs. Loneva Banks and Mrs. Alvaretta Robinson have been 1 confined to the Beaver County Hospital to receive treatment for serious illnesses. Mrs. Banks suffered a stroke and Mrs. Rob- inson a heart ailment. j Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Peterson land children of Las Vegas spent the week-end here as guests of Mrs. Ethel Myers and family. Mrs. Eva Davis spent several days last week visiting a sister, Mrs. Fern Mathews, in Caliente. Her sister and family returned ' with her to visit in Minersville. , ! i Mrs. Lynnea Marshall and i daughter Janet spent several .' days in Charleston, Utah, last week, and participated in the Wright family reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Truman and children motored to Huntington, Hunt-ington, Utah, last week-end to visit Karl's parents. Gil and Jan remained with their grandparents grand-parents for a week's visit. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gillins and Susan are in Salt Lake City where Ty underwent an operation opera-tion for a back injury on Thursday. Thurs-day. The latest report was that nis condition was satisfactory. Mr. and Mrs. Daisel Davis and girls spent several days in Salt Lake City last week, enjoy-ng enjoy-ng a short vacation, brated her fourth birthday on |
