Show y - i PROPER FEEDING j HELPS KEEP HIGH j EGG PRODUCTION j Do you have trouble keeping ' egg production high during the hot weather? County Agent Grant Esplin says feeding is the key to egg production, and is , even more important during the summer when appetites are slug-1 gish. If you have trouble getting your hens to eat during the hot weather, tryjnaking the feed more attractive. You can do this by adding milk or water to the 1 mash fed at noon, and by cutting cut-ting down on the grain and feeding more mash. At each feeding give only what wet mash will be cleaned up in 30 minutes. Here is an example of the importance im-portance of proper feeding. If a hen weighing 4 pounds eats 56 pounds of feed in a year's time she can stay alive but will not lay any eggs. If she eats 81 pounds of a well balanced feed, she will have enough to stay alive and healthy, and to lay well over 200 eggs. t |
