We hope tn learn many more. This week in Mr. Stotf, room we are studying abou changes in the weather, and what causes tornadoes and hur ricanes. We feel sorry for th people back in Arkansas who have had to face the awful disasters dis-asters of the tornadoes thev have had. ' It has been decided by the school faculty at their regular meeting this week that the spring Parent-Teacher conferences confer-ences will be held at the school during the afternoons of April 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Notices of appointments ap-pointments will be sent to all parents in the near future, with details of the time of conference and room. Every parent who has a child enrolled in the school is urged to attend. SCIENCE EXPERIMENT We are going to watch germs grow in our room. The first thing we did was sterilize the equipment. Then we poured the the agar into the sterile petri dishes. The agar then set so it looked like jello. We have five dishes of agar. Dennis Simp-kins Simp-kins coughed into one, Calvin Bartholomew touched one, Betty Bills kissed one, we put a nickel in one, and we left one open in the room for 15 minutes. We hope the germs will grow so we can see them and study the different dif-ferent kinds. -Robert Gordon Rose and Carl Raymond Briscoe. Miss Cole's Third Grade. We made a poem about spring. It is about spring flowers. Flowers Flow-ers are pretty in spring. Spring is a happy time. This is the poem: SPRING FLOWERS I love the color smells that come in springtime. The purple smell of lilacs, The yellow smell of daffodills, The red smell of tulips, .The white smell of the iris, And the brown and yellow smell of pansy faces. I love spring smells.' Linda Lou Williams. Mrs. Roberts' Second Grade. Mrs. Larsen's Third Grade is making kites. March is the month for kites. When a good day comes we will be able to fly our kites that we have made. Some are already finished. They are pretty kites. We hope to have fun when we fly them. We are keeping a weather calendar. Judy Rae Myers and Margaret Ann Whittaker. Mr. King's Fourth Grade We are studying about light and sound, and how sound travels. trav-els. We are learning about bending light with a prism and reflecting it with a mirror. We have found out sunlight has all the colors of the rainbow in it. We have sutdied film projectors project-ors and how they work. We are learning how movies are made. Dee Sly and Danny Beddingfield, Reporters. The Fourth and Fifth grades of Mr. Christiansen have been going on with their regular work. Some of the outstanding things recently have been two good educational films, "America "Amer-ica the Beautiful," and "Power of the Nation." These are Americanism Amer-icanism films. We also have started on a study of the teeth, and one on Sound. |
