H j Minersville Couple Observe 64th Wedding Anniversary The eldest couple in Minersville, who have found the secret of happiness in work and in helping others, observed their 64th wedding anniversary Wednesday, Dec. 26th. They are Mr. and Mrs. Moroni Myers, lifelong life-long residents of Minersville, who were married Dec. 26, 1887, at Beaver, and were later married in the St. .George Temple of the L D S Chnrch. Mr. Myers, who recently cele-' brated his 85th birthday, is a retired re-tired farmer and stockman. Spring and summer find him busy raising a garden and keeping keep-ing his premises free from leaves and debris. Still very active, the winter months find him chopping wood for culinary and heating purposes. He has been an active church member, holding many important offices and is at present a high priest. He has served as town board president in Minersville, and for many years was the town constable. Mrs. Myers has been active in women's organizations of the L D S Church since she was 11 years of gfee when she served as assistant secretary to the Sunday School. In the Relief Society she held the position of . secretary for 10 years, and has been a visiting teacher. Both Mr. and Mrs. Myers are ward missionaries and are fond of reading. In younger life they possessed fine singing voices, a talent which has been inheritaed by many of their children and grandchildren. After rearing their own family fam-ily of 11 children, Mr. and Mrs. Myers raised a granddaughter after the death of her mother. The granddaughter, now 15 years old, is a comfort and help to them. Although Mrs. Myers suffered a dislocated shoulder and other injuries a year ago, she now enjoys en-joys comparatively good health. Mr. Myers was born at Beaver Beav-er on Dec, 9, 1866, a son of Joseph and Sirah Eyre Myers. Mis. Myers was born Feb. 4. 1872, a daughter of Edward and Sarah Bradshaw of Minersville. They have three sons and seven daughters living: Mrs. Cassie McKnight, Mrs. Gertrude Fisher and Mrs. Helen Gillins, all of South Milford; Mrs. Hope Le-Fevre, Le-Fevre, Maybelle, Colo.; Claude Myers, Craig, Colo.; Mrs. Maude Messenger, Compton, Cal.; Mrs. Wilda Davis, Mrs. Hilda Marshall, Mar-shall, Obra Myers and Victor Myers of Minersville. They also have 51 grandchildren, 70 greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. |
