Show DEER HUNTERS SHOULD HEP PROTECT VITAL POWER TRANSMISSION LINES Just a word of caution to deer hunters. DON'T SHOOT POWER LINE INSULATORS! The deer hunting season is a time for fun, excitement and a show of skill. To many Southern Utahns this season is a holiday . Farm work stops, some shops close, and "business as usual" just waits a few days. During this fun, however, some thoughtless hunters seem to spoil things by using power line insulators as targets to "sight in their guns." This is really serious because the shooting of a line in the mountains may cause service interruption to all of Southern Utah. Thirty thousand people would find themselves without lights and refrigeration. Half this many would, have no way to cook. A large per- centage could not heat their homes. Schools and churches would be cold and dark. Motor ists with gasoline low in their tanks would be stranded. Vaccines Vac-cines and serums in drug stores would be imperiled. An operation opera-tion in a hospital may be at a critical point just as the power is interrupted. There are many more thingf that could happen in case of power failure too numerous tc mention here. That we believe it is the moral responsibility of all hunters to not only refrain from shooting at power lines but to prevent others from doing do-ing so. Telluride Power Co. is posting a $100 reward for information in-formation leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone shooting shoot-ing power lines. This is mighty serious! Have fun hunting, but don't jeopardize the health and happiness happi-ness of the folks at home. DON'T SHOOT POWER LINE INSULATORS. |
