Show TIME TO FIND OUT It has been suggested that a weekly newspaper editor should not use his column, or columns, to comment on national issues, but should instead devote his time to local and county matters. The thought behind this suggestion sug-gestion is that none of us know what is going on in our national government and thus are not qualified to com-. com-. merit on it. For an answer, this writer would like to observe that it is about time we start to find out what is going on in Washington at the present time, but most of us can make a pretty good guess by just looking at our pocket-books. pocket-books. Our country is well along the road toward Socialism at the present time, and is being pushed faster each day by the present administration forces. It is interesting to note that we are following a path which is almost identical ident-ical to that which England started on several years ago, and which has led them into trouble which is almost inconceivable in-conceivable to most of us here in the United States. Such a policy has not worked in England, and it will not work here. Spending yes, wild spending has been the creed of the Truman forces, and as long as they are in power it will not end. We are all feeling the pressure of the heavy tax load more every day, and the only way we can put a stop to it is by putting a stop to the men who are causing it. As proof of this statement, we point out to you that more money has been spent by the national government in the past six years than was spent by all other administrations admin-istrations in the history of our country put together, including in-cluding the first two terms of Franklin Roosevelt. There will be another presidential election next year, and Mr. Truman has handed out word that he will be a candidate. Those who favor his policy of attempting to ruin our country will, of course, be pleased. However, for those who want something else anything else it is time to go to work to see that Mr. T. is not given the opportunity op-portunity to continue his program of Socialism through higher taxation. We are speaking not only to Republicans, Republi-cans, but to Democrats who value our country more than they do Mr. Truman and his Kansas City friends. Ferris (Calif.) Independent. |
