Show Adventisis Plan Annual Drive Seventh-day Adventists have launched their annual world Mission Appeal here, Burton Boundey, local church pastor, announced today. Last year's drive, to which many local business men and residents contributed liberally, netted $2,882,000 for the support sup-port of medical, educational and other activities carried on by Adventists around the world. The church seeks a similar amount from friends and neighbors neigh-bors this year. The members have passed the, half-way mark in their solicitation solicita-tion program. The church plans to reach its goal of $205 by May 5. Since the plan was adopted by the denomination 43 years ago, the annual Uplift Appeal has added $50 million to funds given by members for the support sup-port of medical, educational and other miss' on projects carried car-ried on by Adventists around the world. The funds received in this year's drive will supplement the $133.28 per capita which church members gave last year to carry Christianity to the world thru educational, evangelistic evan-gelistic and medical missionary work. "In our shrinking world, America cannot afford to .gnore the forces which threaten freedom free-dom in other lands," Pastor Boundey declared. "Acquaint-ng "Acquaint-ng the peoples of the world with the love thy neighbor as thy-elf" mode of l.fe is not only good religion, it is intelligent world planning." |
