Show ; - - Ibtcjb School IRcws We are beginning our second semester of the school year of 1950-51 and are in for a long siege of school without vaca- tion. The next vacation will , be on May 18, when school is dismissed for the summer. The student council at the I high school is now busily engaged en-gaged in formulating some kind I of an honor award system whereby each year the out-, out-, standing members of the gradu-J gradu-J ating class can be given some sort of an honor award for their participation in extra-curricular activities. Such a system will probably allow points for participation in such activities as school plays, school operettas, oper-ettas, music festivals, lettering in athletics, participating in the traveling assembly, belonging belong-ing to service clubs such as Tigerettes, and other activities. Perhaps a Block M pin will signify their participation in such activities. At any rate it is hoped that the award will be exclusive enough to promote healthy competition and encourage en-courage students to participate in service organizations and to take part in extra-curricular activities. Rumor has it that the speech j and music departments will col-i col-i laborate in presenting a musical play in the near future. Such , a performance should be interesting inter-esting and entertaining to all townsfolk and it is hoped that j the rumors are true. j M H S HONOR ROLL FOR FIRST 1951 SEMESTER As a salute to those students who spend their evenings studying study-ing instead of roaming the streets, in an effort to improve the quality of their school work, we are instituting for the first time an Honor Roll which will be published at the end of each nine-week term. Students who have received nothing less than straight A will be listed on one roll and those who have received re-ceived nothing less than a B for the term will be on the other roll.
