Show Radio Gag Proves Man Keeps Silent Longer Than Woman HOLLYWOOD, CALIF. Tests have proved what men have long contended a man can keep quiet longer than a woman. As a gag for a radio show, a 48-year 48-year old housewife and a Los Angeles An-geles man were put in a store window win-dow to see who could keep qufet and do nothing the longest They couldn't talk, except to their guards, read or turn on a radio. They slept in their chairs. Their meals were brought in to them. Only an occasional walk around the store window or a trip, to the rest room was permitted. It was one of the latter that ended the spell after five days, three hours and 23 minutes. A guard reported re-ported he detected the woman exchanging ex-changing words with a stranger on the store's mezzanine. That ended the contest. Observers described the man who just sat as "stoic." His first words were: "You mean I won?" Hp did, and his prize was $3,000. |
