Show 2,000 VISITORS EXPECTED AT LEHMAN CAVES FOR BEAVER COUNTY DAY Upwards of 2000 persons are .expected to 'greet Gov. J. Bracken Lee of Utah and Gov. Vail Pittman of Nevada when the two chief executives meet at Lehman Caves on Sunday, August 14, to observe "Beaver County Day" with the assemblage. Both governors will make brief addresses, participating in a short noon-hour program which will include in-clude vocal or instrumental numbers from every community along the route of Highway 21, as well as brief comments from, other prominent guests. p The Miltora j-,ions L-iUD is sponsoring "Beaver County Day," with George Jefferson in charge of arrangements. Primary Pri-mary purpose of the event is to increase interest in the cave as a tourist attraction, and further the efforts to complete paving of Highway 21 west of Milford. Included in the official party, in addition to the two chief executives, wiil be the chairmen of the State Highway High-way commissions for Utah and Nevada, Mr. B. W. Hanson, Han-son, Mr. Royal R. Chamberlain, Chamber-lain, Mr. Joel W. Priest and Mr. W. J. Thomas, all officials offi-cials of the Union Pacific Railroad Co., the president and secretary of the Ely, Mil-ford Mil-ford and Beaver Lions clubs, The chairman of the Beaver County Commission, and the mayors of Beaver, Minersville and Milford. The chief executive exec-utive and several other visitors vis-itors will be accompanied by their ladies. ' Many other important ' guests are expected to make the motor tour from Milford to the cave, to join in the festivities. The program will be about as follows: fol-lows: The caravan will begin moving mov-ing out of Milford shortly after daybreak. About 8:30 or 9 a. m. the Governor Lee party will leave, arriving at the cave about 10:30 or 11. They will meet Governor Pittman's party, and after a brief rest will be conducted through the beautiful cave by Max Wainwright, ranger rang-er in charge. About noon, the two governors, gover-nors, the highway commission chairmen and other guests will make short addresses, interspersed inter-spersed with musical numbers from the various communities. All day, tours of the cave will be conducted by Ranger Wain- wright and his staff. After the program ,the visitors will have basket picnic lunches, which will be furnished by each individual indi-vidual for his own party. Cold drinks and ice cream will be furnished, free, by the Milford Lions Club. Saturday morning Governor Lee will appear in Beaver, arriving ar-riving in time for noon luncheon as guest of the Beaver Lions Club. . He and his party will be entertained by the club until about 2 p. m., when they will leave for Minersville to appear at an informal public meeting. About 4 o'clock they will arrive in Milford, where they will greet the Milford citizens at an informal meeting in the lobby of the Milford Hotel. In the evening, the ladies of Governor Lee's party will be guests of the Lady Lions, while the governor and the men of his party will be honored at a banquet ban-quet to be served by the Milford Mil-ford Lions Club. Every citizen of Beaver County is urged to be present at "Beaver County Day" at the cave. The new light plant recently completed at the save provides ample power for installing in-stalling many additional lights in the hundreds of hidden hid-den rooms, alcoves, nooks and crannies of the cavern, and new beauty spots have been developed and lighted by Ranger Wainwright and his asistants. Persons who have not toured the cave this summer sum-mer will be delighted with the improvements and new beauties beau-ties not shown on previous tours. "Beaver County Day" will be one to be remembered. |
