Show 9 jbututa, Bui 9 Jtecuid. . . By SECOND-GUESSER At a meeting in Beaver last Saturday afternoon, attended by editors and publishers of Southern South-ern Utah, Mr. George Jefferson of Milford presented a resolution which will be offered to all county conventions of both political polit-ical parties, urging correction of some obvious flaws in the present pres-ent election laws. Listed as inequitable and unfair un-fair to the "cow counties," the sections more remote from Salt Lake, were: The secret ballot. It is the opinion of the framcrs of the resolution, which include members mem-bers of both political faiths, that the voter at the poll is voting for himself alone, and no one is entitled en-titled to know how he casts his ballot. However, delegates to a county or state convention are representing a group of voters casting their ballot and the electors whom he represents are rightfully privileged to know how the ballot is cast. The present stipulation that county conventions may not elect alternate delegates, to represent rep-resent the county in case the regular reg-ular delegate is unable to attend, is an excellent one for the Salt Lake districts, in which a delegate dele-gate may leave his business for an hour to attend the convention 'and cast his ballot, but is unfair to the outlying counties and in many instances will rob the counties of votes for candidates of their choice. Alsg ,the stipulation stip-ulation that the chairtnan of the delegation may not vote the full strength of the delegation should be changed to permit counties in outlying areas their full right to cast their allotted number of ballots, even though some of the delegates may not be able to attend at-tend thru illness or press of business. busi-ness. It is also asked that congressional, congres-sional, legislative and judicial v conventions be held within the respective jurisdictions.
