Show News Notes from the STATE FISH S GAME SPORTSMEN TO GET FISH AND GAME QUESTIONNAIRES More than 23,000 question-1 noire cards have been mailed to sportsmen thruout the state by ihe Utah Fish and Game Department, De-partment, Director Ross Leonard Leon-ard said today. - Deer hunters, picked at random ran-dom from the hunting licenses, will receive 15,000 of the cards. Eight thousand of them will go to duck hunters, also picked at random from all sections of the slate. The purpose of the card survey sur-vey is to determine, as accurately accurate-ly as possible, the success of the hunts. From this data, plus the counts made in the spring in congested deer areas and from reports compiled by wardens and dangers alike, the Board of Big Game Control will prescribe Ihe limits of next year's big game hunts. To insure an accurate count on at least a thousand of these permits, a 100 per cent check will be made, the director explained. ex-plained. A block of 1000 permits per-mits has been set aside. Those cards not returned to the department de-partment will be followed up by state wardens who will gather the information to make the 1000-card block complete. This complete survey, Mr. Leonard pointed out, will be compared with incomplete returns to in sure the success . of the whole count. Cooperation of all sportsmen in returning these cards is solicited, so-licited, the director said, in pointing out that the data on the 1947 hunt is necessary for the board in its work on next year's regulations. |
