Show STORES TO CLOSE FOR LABOR DAY Milford's grocery and department de-partment stores will be closed all day Monday, Labor Day, it was announced today. Housewives are urged to do their shopping Friday and Saturday. early for us to know whether we wish to take any particular stand or not we don't even have an inkling of who will be candidates for the offices. We expect to be as independent indepen-dent as the Statue of Liberty in the coming election, except for the filling of one office. We have always felt it was a mistake mis-take to entrust the keeping of a city's records to inexperienced hands. Too oftcri some widow or elderly person is named city recorder, who has had no business busi-ness experience whatever. And m nearly all such cases, the records soon become so muddled that not even the proverbial Philadelphia lawyer can make heads or tails of them. So, because we feel that Milford Mil-ford has been very fortunate in having a town clerk that knows his business and is conscientious in his conduct of that business, we announce our 100 per cent support of Vernon Burns for City Recorder. We haven't heard whether Mr. Burns is to seek tile office, but if he doesn't, we should do as the Democrats did with F. D. R., and "draft" him. With that one exception, our policy will be strict independence, indepen-dence, and any candidate may get all the publicity he wishes in The Milford News at our regular political rate. Ruminator received a "hot" letter this week which we are unable to publish, because the sender failed to sign a name. As we have mentioned before, all letters for publication I-'-.UST be signed with the writer's name and address, but name will be withheld if requested.
