Show Women's Clubs MRS. PATRICIA WILLIAMS, Society Editor Phone 150 The Marriage of Miss Gloria Limb, daughter of Mrs. Jane Limb o Milford. and Robert T. Slinkerd. son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Slinkerd, was solemnized) at Pioche, Nov., on Tuseday, April 22. Mrs. Slinkerd is a graduate of the Milford High school, class of 1945, and since her graduation has been employed as interior decorator and clerk at the J. C. Penney store. She received recognition rec-ognition during her school years for her proficiency in art work, and had specialized in show card work and window decorating at On Her Official visit as install-' ing officer for the Ladies Auxiliary Auxil-iary to Escalante Post No. 1546, Mrs. Jenevieve Jensen, department depart-ment president, was a guest at the home of Mrs. Theresa Piteh-fordth. Piteh-fordth. A delicious dinner was served at 5 o'clock, at a table beautifully beauti-fully decorated with blue candles can-dles and lovely pansies and violets from Mrs. Pitchforth's garden. A number of auxiliary members mem-bers visited with the department president during the evening. Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Pitchforth, with Mrs. Jenevieve Jensen, left Wednesday morning for St. George on official business for the V. F. W. Auxiliary State Department, De-partment, returning Thursday evening. It was a very lovely trip, with a stop-over at Iron Mountain on the return. Mrs. Jensen remained at Cedar City to officiate at installation ceremonies cere-monies of the Cedar City group. A The Annual Gleaner Girl festival fes-tival of the county was held Wednesday evening at the L. D. S. church. The girls were beautifully beau-tifully gowned in their formal dresses. A banquet was served by candlelight, with clusters of roses decorating the tables, at which lovely favors were placed for each guest. A program was given by the members. A display of individ-1 individ-1 ual books, titled "My Story Lest I Forget," was an interesting interest-ing feature. the Penney store. Mr. Slinkerd, recently moving to Milford from California is associated with his father in operation op-eration of the L & B Dairy Lunch. The American Legion Auxiliary Auxil-iary met at the home of Mrs. Naomi Hughes April 21 for the ! regular business meeting and ' social. Commander Steve Williams Wil-liams and Legionnaire Rosetta Koch visited the Auxiliary, and outlined plans for the annual '49-ers Celebration May 16th. and asked the assistance of the Auxiliary. President Mary Williams Wil-liams said the Auxiliary would helo in every way possible to make the day a success. The j sponsoring of a Junior Girl to be selected from scholastic standing was discussed, to send to Logan during the summer to attend Girls' State. This is a national program. , The membership committee report showed 73 members in good standing. Plans for observing Poppy Day on May 24th were discussed. V p-.per on Pan-America was I given by Mrs. Dorothy Grim- shaw and Mrs. Dora Casterline, which was very well received by I I the ladies. After the business session the -' ladies played Monte Carlo Whist, with Mrs. Dora Smithson win-r:iiing win-r:iiing high prize, Mrs. . Beryl Crum, low, and Mrs. Edna Baker , the house prize. A very deli- cious salad course was served - by the hostelses, Mrs. Naomi - Hughes, Mrs. Gayle Perkins and Mrs. Jean Hickman. In attendance at the festival were girls from Milford, Beaver. Minersville, North Creek and Greenville. Hubert Hickman was honored at a birthday dinner last Mon day, April 21, given by his wife and friends at the Hickman home. Miss Patsy Leech, Bob Stewart Stew-art and Phil Lund joined rela tives in wishing "Hub" many happy returns of the occasion Cards and eats were enjoyed with a birthday cake adding tc the festivities. Hub was present ed with a complete fishing out fit by the guests. |
