Show Fall snow storm stirs caution The first snow of the season here, Saturday, brought an abrupt end to the past several weeks of beautiful fall weather and sunshine. Though the snow melted quickly in the valley, the capped cap-ped mountain peaks in the 6000 foot level were white covered and remained so. Elk hunters found the opening day most wintry and difficult. Prospects for skiers and snowmobiles as well as farmers were on the brighter side. With winter conditions starting star-ting out this early in the fall, another record wet year looms. Precipitation recorded at the Olmstead station for last year (October 1 through September 30) was 22.94 inches of precipitation pre-cipitation and was the highest recorded in the 15-year history. Average is 18.39. A word of caution to car owners to winterize now and to motorists to take extra precautions pre-cautions in the stormy days ahead for safer driving was issued to provide safety methods meth-ods at home and in driving.
