Wright, owner and manager of the City Rexall Drug here, recently completed a pharmacy consultant training course and symposium on the problems of drug abuse at the University of Utah. The course was set up by the U of U College of Pharmacy Pharm-acy due to the rapid and vast changes in the development of new drugs and the new requirements require-ments of the Medicare program. pro-gram. It provided institutional pharmacy oriented training for those selected retail pharmacists pharma-cists now serving as consultants consult-ants to extended care facilities or rest homes and acquaint them with the required specialized special-ized functions of institutional pharmacy. The course was held at the University and the LDS Primary Pri-mary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City. A six day course, it covered the latest techniques in pharmacy, new drugs, drug distribution and control, rational drug therapy, workshops and topic discussions. Staff members of the two institutions insti-tutions conducted the classes. A symposium under the direc- tion of Dr. J. Thomas TJnder-leiger, TJnder-leiger, M. D. Department of Psychiatry, UCLA Medical School director of drug abuse research, and Dr. Lincoln D. Clark, M.D. professor of psychiatry, psy-chiatry, U of U Medical School, treated the problem of drug abuse, behavorial toxicity, how prevalent it is locally and motivational mo-tivational syndrome. |
