Show I Springville Guard has ) outstanding soldier I for the third consecutive Jew the 116th Engineer Com- P"ny (LE) of the Utah Na- tional Guard, located here in Springville has had the "outstanding "out-standing soldier" honor award go to its unit. Sp-5 Ronald (Jim) Simkins. son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray V. Simkins was selected as the outstanding soldier for all of the engineer units in the state. The honor was announced in connection with the summer camp concluded last weekend. Two previous men, Michael W. Farrer in 1967 and David R. Henrie in 1968 were thus honored from the Springville Company. In winning the honor, Sp-5 Simkins won over competition from units in Murray, Lehi, Tooele, American Fork, Vernal, Price, Provo, Nephi and Mt. Pleasant. Sp-5 Simkins is assigned as a tractor operator, on the platoon commanded by 2nd Lt. Orville B. Adamson of Orem and Pit. Sgt. Kent L. Fullmer of Mapleton. i sP-5 Ronald '(Jim) Simpklns |
