To fulfill his dreams of a degree de-gree in engineering Mr. Felix and his wife and family have worked and saved for ten years. He has been employed by the Reclamation Reclama-tion Department and hopes to continue In his present work. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Felix who also reside in this city. White, Armel Owen Beardall, Rcbert Allan Hansen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Omar M. Hansen, Han-sen, will receive his bachelor of engineering scicence degree at commencement exercises May 29 at BYU. He will also receive his commission as a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force. He has been assigned to begin his four-year service at Kees-ler Kees-ler AFB, Biloxi, Miss., where he will spend two weeks en-route en-route to Eglin AFB In Florida. Flor-ida. He will be assigned as Space Systems Operator, in the Air Defense Command. Mel Isaacson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Isaacson of this city will receive his B.A. degree de-gree from the BYU at Commencement Com-mencement Exercises May 29. He is majoring in Art and Dramatic Art and has worked work-ed for the past 5 years in the art department. For the past 2 years he has been working on an assistantship in scenery scen-ery design for Charles Hen-son Hen-son and Robert Struthers of the Y. He is married to the former Sherrie Gagon and they have one daughter. They reside in Provo. Martin Harold Bell and Douglas David Nettles. Brigham Young University ranks sixth in the U. S. in the number of bachelor's degrees awarded in journalism and communications, com-munications, according to Journalism Jour-nalism Quarterly. In a survey covering 124 major ma-jor schools in the country, the professional journal reported that the Department of Communications Com-munications at BYU awarded 133 baccalaureate degrees in 1968. The ten leading universities, univer-sities, in order, were: Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Michigan State, Illinois, BYU. Ohio, Northwestern, Oregon, and Minnesota. BYU and Northwestern were the only private universities in the top ten. The 1968 graduating class at BYU included 24 majors in journalism, 32 in broadcasting, and 77 in advertising. In addition addi-tion the department had ten recipients of master's degrees in communications and two recipients re-cipients of associcate degrees in photographic technology. The total of bachelors and masters degrees awarded showed show-ed an increase of 43 percent over the previous year's total, which included 92 bachelors and 8 masters. In enrollment of majors in1 journalism and communications BYU ranks 15th, according to the Journalism Quarterly report. re-port.
