Show Mapleton School addition to replace old structure Plans to add on to the Mapleton Ma-pleton Elementary School took another step nearer completion as the Nebo Board of Education Educa-tion instructed Dell Ashworth, architect, to proceed with his plans. Mr. Ashworth, meeting before be-fore the board in regular session ses-sion in Spanish Fork Monday night, recommended that a plan be approved which would call for the tearing down of the presently existing old portion por-tion of the school building and the new addition be of a low profile one story building on the site of the present structure. struc-ture. The building would include six new class rooms, a multipurpose multi-purpose area, new principal's office, a special class room for remedial work and additional rest rooms. Not counting the remedial class room this would show a net gain of one plass room over existing facilities. Estimated cost of the building build-ing at this time is between $258,000 and $278,000. Mr. Ashworth Ash-worth was directed to complete plans for letting of the bid on or about March 15, 1969, so that the bids could be opened on April 1, 1969. Estimated time of completion would be near six months. School board officials noted that the building should be adequate for the next five to ten years at which time population popu-lation demands in Mapleton possibly would necessitate the construction of another building build-ing somewhere in the city. |
