Junior Rifle Club wins tophies at state shoot meet The Springville-Mapleton Jr. Rifle Club was well represented at the Utah State Junior Gallery Gal-lery Rifle championship held last Saturday at Highland High School in Salt Lake announces Garth Killpack, instructor of the club. The meet is conducted Neil Sorenson second in the C competition. The fifth match is comprised of the scores fired in the first four matches. Steven Killpack placed second in the B Class and Neil Sorenson took first with Danny Vincent getting second in the C Class. Seventh match is comprised of the scores fired in matches 2 and 3. Gene Gurr took first in the B Class and Neil Sorenson Sor-enson was first with Leslie Birch second in the C Class. The fifth match was a team match and was fired in both the prone and standing positions posi-tions by teams of four members mem-bers in each class. In the C Class, team members Neil Sorenson, Sor-enson, Danny Vincent, Leslie Birch and Robert Woodward took first place. The B Class team consisting of Steven Kill-pack, Kill-pack, Gene Gurr, Ricky Newton New-ton and Stephen Harder out-shot out-shot all other teams in all classes clas-ses and were crowned state champions. Springville-Mapleton team members came home with 27 of each year by the Utah State Rifle and Pistol Association and is sanctioned by the National Na-tional Rifle Association. Jr. championship meets are divided into an A Class for 17 and 18 year old boys and girls; B Class for 14, 15, 16 year olds; C Class for those 13 and under. Top shooters Steven Killpack, shooting in the B Class, prone position, took first place. Neil Sorenson placed first and Leslie Birch second in the same event in the C Class. Gene Gurr took first place in the second match which was fired from a sitting position while Steven Killpack p'aced second, both in the B division. In the C Class in the sitting position, Neil sorensen placed first with Robert Woodward taking second. In the third match, kneeling position, Class A division, Karl Child took second. Neil Sorenson Soren-son placed first and Leslie Birch, second in the ClassC kneeling match. ruurui iiirt-iuii, in x jn-cxuuiiig position, Ricky Newton placed first in the B Class while Danny Dan-ny Vincent came in first and the 58 trophies presented. In the C Class the local shooters received all of the trophies presented pre-sented and Neil Sorenson had the distinction of being the only person in the matches to receive a trophy in each match. Springville-Mapleton's entries were among 45 boys and 5 girls in the Salt Lake, Ogden, Clearfield Clear-field and Hillfield areas competing. com-peting.
