Show ' ; - . r : ; Mrs. J Lilian Boyer was elected elec-ted president of the East-South East-South Utah County DUP at a convention here last Thursday. Thurs-day. She replaces Mary Smart in the new position. East-South DUP organization names officers New officers of East-South Utah County DUP were elected at a convention Thursday afternoon af-ternoon of last week, at Memorial Mem-orial Hall, under direction of President Mary Smart. Florence Boyer was elected p r e s i dent succeeding Mrs. Smart, who has served two 2-year 2-year terms; Mae Huntington is the new vice president; Josephine Jose-phine Conover, second vice president; Nellie Condie, treasurer; treas-urer; Violet Diamond, recording record-ing secretary; Cora Phillips, registrar; Alice Davis, chaplain; chap-lain; Mary Smart, custodian of relics. LaRue Walker was retained re-tained as historian; Catherine Sumsion as lesson leader and Thelma Carter, corresponding secretary. Several reports were given at the meeting including the president's report of activities the past four years; Vivian Averett, registrar's report; La-Rue La-Rue Walker, historian; Sarah Weight, librarian; Florence Boyer, treasurer; Mae Miller, relic committee. Mrs. Kate B. Carter of Salt Lake City, president of the Central Company DUP, was guest speaker at the meeting attended by rep resentatives from all of the 14 camps of Springville and Mapleton. Mae Huntington gave a paper pa-per on the history of the first DUP in Springville, prepared by Catherine Sumsion. The invocation in-vocation at the meeting was by Catherine Russell and music mu-sic for the afternoon was furnished fur-nished by a group of DUP members directed by Nellie Con-die Con-die with Wilda Oakley, accompanist. accom-panist. Refreshments were served at the close of the afternoon, under un-der the supervision of Mabel Brown, Vivian Averett, Minnie Groesbeck. |
