Show Local people place in writer contest Springville authors received three first places and one third, in the Cleff and Pen sponsored contest for southern Utah County, the awards being be-ing made at a breakfast in Spanish Fork. Roy Dunn, 636 South, Fourth East, received first place for an article entitled, "Canine Capers;" Margaret Hiatt, 310 East First South, first place for serious verse, entitled, "Triplicity," and Norma Gus-tavson, Gus-tavson, 240 East, Second So., first place for light verse, her work being entitled, "Devilment." "Devil-ment." Clayton Hiatt, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Darold Hiatt, received re-ceived third place for a short story. A large representative number num-ber entered each of the five categories of the contest, from most of the' towns in the southern south-ern part of the county. Westside PTA is sponsoring a Halloween Carnival Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the school and an invitation is giv-,en giv-,en parents and friends to attend. at-tend. Food and candy will be sold and the children will be entertained with games and a short movie. |
