Show Guard assists with several city projects Considerable work is being done by the National Guard unit on Springville projects giving the Guardsmen some valuable experience and at the same time providing the city with equipment and free labor. la-bor. Among the important projects pro-jects on which the guard has worked, is re-inforcing the banks of Hobble Creek in the area of Third West, Second South and at other points where high water threatens to break through. The unit is also working during dur-ing weekends, on the new city golf course, clearing brush, cutting roads and leveling the land with their heavy equipment. equip-ment. Another site on which the guard is working is the Boy Scout camp near the power plant in Hobble Creek Canyon. Here, drainage pipes have been installed and a dam is being' be-ing' constructed for a fish pond. The unit is also hauling gravel from the foothills on Center Street to the lower compound site near the sewer plant, to use as filler material and the guardsmen are also widening the road in this area, which also benefits the city. |
