Bill Allred, playing one of his best games of the year, and hitting 15 counters, ably assisted work horse, Ron Bird in sparking a drive that saw Springville come from behind in the last of the third quarter quar-ter and pull to 62-56 with only 4 minutes to go in the final quarter. The Devils had connected con-nected for 15 points to Murray's Mur-ray's 6 to do this and then just as surely as Bird was actually ac-tually the hero of the game, counting 20 points, he missed a 1 and 1 foul shot with only a minute left to go which would have given the Red Devils Dev-ils a three point lead, after Murray had pulled up to within with-in one point. The shot was missed, and Murray tanked a basket to go ahead and then added foul shots as the Devils fouled in an attempt to gain a chance at the basket. Allred had a couple of free throws with only 45 seconds remaining and hit one, which gave the Devils their 63rd point. Murray's Jensen tossed in two more to give them the victory. The game was the most exciting, best played game of the opening round.
