CHS Orchestra plans Halloween concert CEDAR CITY The Cedar High School Symphony Orchestra and the Junior Varsity Orchestra Or-chestra will present their Fall Halloween Concert Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. in the CHS Auditorium. Lendng their support to the Symphony Orchestra will be the record number of CHS students who qualified to perform in the All State Orchestra during the UEA Convention Con-vention early this month. Nine string players and our wind percussion players had the op portunity of working under the baton of Richard Marsden during three days of rehearsal, culminating in a performance in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. The Junior Varsity Orchestra will play a Suite in F Major, by Corelli, for strings; and ' "'Slovakian Folk Songs," by Cochvala, lor lull orchestra, in Wed nesday's concert. The Symphony Or chestra will play "In the Hall of the Mountain King," by Grieg; "Fingals' Cave," by Mendelssohn; Concertino in (I, by Sammartini; "Antar Sympohony," by Rimsky Korsakov; and "Pumpkin Eater's Little Fugue," by McBride. Featured on the program will be the new CHS Country Fiddle Group playing some new tunes. According to June Larsen, director of the groups, the entire program promises good music and a happy, top-tapping.fun, top-tapping.fun, fall evening for all. |
