Show $31,831 for modifications VVMC receives federal energy grant this year. Energy cconsumption costs will be reduced, and heating and cooling efficiency will be imDroved. These savings will help to moderate the rate of increase in health care costs for patients, Gardner Gard-ner stated CEDAR CITY -Valley View Medical Center has been advised by Senator Jake Garn's office that the U.S. Department of Energy has awarded the hospital an energy grant in the amount of $37,831.00. The grant monies will be used to make modifications designed to improve the efficiency of existing hospital air handling systems. The DOE will provide approximately ap-proximately 75 percent of the cost of two major projects The first project involves in-volves installation of a "night-setback" system for building heating and cooling operations, which automatically shuts down certain areas of the hospital when not in use. The second project provides for modifying the air-handling system in order to capture preheated pre-heated or cooled air expelled from various areas of the hospital. The air is cleaned and then recirculated, substantially sub-stantially decreasing the heating and cooling costs. Dahl T. Gardner, hospital administrator, indicated that the modifications should be completed by the end of |
