Show Corsage workshop to be taught at SUSC CEDAR CITY An orchid corsage is a traditional Mother's Day gift, and it can be even more special if made by the giver; and a special workshop to do just that will be May 4 at Southern Utah State College. Natasha Carter, a trained florist and teacher of SUSC workshops in arranging fresh and dried flowers, is the instructor for the orchid corsage making workshop which will be from 7 to 9: 30 p.m. in Old Administration 204. Additional information about the non-credit workshop is available by calling the SUSC Division of Continuing Education, 585-7853. Carter will discuss the different varieties of orchids, then will demonstrate the use of bows and backings to create beautiful corsages. cor-sages. Students will then make an orchid corsage of their own. A $17 registration fee will be charged that includes in-cludes the cost of materials for the corsage. cor-sage. Additional corsages can be made, Carter said, by paying an additional materials fee. Participants should bring a paring knife, scissors, pencil and, if possible, wire cutters to the workshop. "Everyone interested in corsage making is invited to attend," Carter, a graduate of the Cliff Man Floral School in Denver, Colo., said. "The workshop will be a lot of fun and we'll make some beautiful corsages." |
