Show Redmen 2nd in meet I Rick Lunt ran a "real good time," according to his coach, in the 330-yard intermediate hurdles. Lunt ran a 43.9 which earned him second place. Half-miler Doug Hermansen placed fourth in the 880-yard run with a 2:10 time, and pole vaulter Darrin Condie was third in the vault, soaring 12-6 to equal his personal best. In addition to strong individual performances, Cedar won two relays. The 4x110 team of Rick Thomas, Nielson, Lunt and Harris won the sprint l" relay. The medley was ai won by Thomas, Ted ni Jessop, David Hart and r Garfield. nl n IK Cedar will be hosting r their annual invitational n meet today at the t! Southern Utah State i College track, beginning ii a at 9:30 a.m. Field events 1 will be on tap to start with, then trials will be at r 10 a.m. and finals at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is invited ' to attend. c J v HURRICANE Cedar High School thinclads turned in several fine performances last week during the Hurricane Invitational track meet, and the Redmen ended up in second place behind the Millard Eagles. "We did really well for what we had," expressed CHS coach Bob Schex-nayder. Schex-nayder. The coach was referring to the number of tracksters who were participating with the baseball team and didn't travel to Hurricane. Cedar scored a total of 96 team points, trailing Millard by 30 points. Hurricane was behind Cedar with 62 points, and Dixie scored 52. David Dix was a double winner for Cedar, claiming top honors in the mile- and two-mile-runs. Dix ran a 4 : 46 in the mile. Danny Harris zipped to a win in the 100-yard dash. Harris ran a 10.2 for the victory. He also finished s second in the 220-yard dash, clocking a 24.0. Troy Nielson won the 220, running a 23.7. Nielson also placed fourth in the 100. Mike Garfield clocked a 4:55 mile-time, good enough for third place. |
