Show Class of 676 finishes on top in tourney the best of 1963-64 by a 53-44 53-44 score . and 1965-66 bested 1967 63-56, with Russell Shirts hitting 24 points for the '65-66 bunch. In second-day action in the championship bracket, it was 1977 nipping 1974 45-43 to eliminate the 1974 squad. In other action, 1976 eliminated 1979 60-54, 1970 downed 1968-69 by a 46-43 score and 1972 zapped 1965-66 60-50. Eight teams remained in the tournament after the second day of action and in the championship bracket, 1 1976 won a thriller over 1977 48-47 in overtime. The other championship bracket game saw 1970 down 1972 by a 44-39 score. The final night of play was 1976 winning the championship over 1970 and 1975 walking-off with consolation honors over 1971. An All-Tournamenl Team was selected by tournament officials and included Bernie Leavitl (1971), Charlie Judd (1977), Brad Blackner (1976), Robin Haight (1970) and Coby Leavitt (1975). CEDAR CITY - The Class of 1976 walked off with top honors in this year's Christmas Alumni Basketball Tournament, spoasored and directed by the Cedar High School Lettermeas Club. The four-day tourney featured teams from 1963-64 through the recently graduated Class of 1981 and the event was enjoyed by hoopsters and fans alike. "I think it went well," said Dave Jenson, advisor to the Lettermens Club, along with John Nielson. "There are a lot of people you get to see that you wouldn't see otherwise. It provides sort of a reunion." Trophies were awarded to all members of the first and second-place squads, along with the consolation champs. 1 1976 downed 1970 56-44 to garner their second straight championship and 1975 whipped 1971 66-56 66-56 to capture consolation honors. After the first day of play, the tournament was a single-elimination affair. Everybody got to play at least two games and first-day winners moved into the championship bracket and first-day losers moved into consolation bracket and first-day losers moved into consolation play. On the initial day of play, 1977 downed 1978 57-42. 57-42. Charlie Judd led the victors with 21 points and Nathan Johnson had 10 to lead 1978. Kevin Cox led 1974 to a 64-38 win over 1981 as Cox hit for 17. 1979 defeated 1980 55-31 and 1976 toppled 1975 70-58. Coby Leavitt had 40 tallies lor 1975 and Bill Engle had 25 for 1976.
