Show Guitar donated ST. GEORGE - A retired University of Utah professor and his wife have given a valuable musical instrument to the Music Department of Dixie College. Dr. and Mrs. C. Gregory Crampton of Bloomington, in making the presentation of the guitar to Dr. Brooks, vice president for Student and Community Services, said "Knowing that the College will be able to use the instrument in a professional way in connection with your teaching commitment to the Community, we are pleased to"' donate the Martin of New York custom-made guitar. This instrument was ordered and used by a prominent California family for some years. We would estimate about fifty or sixty years. It came into Mrs. Crampton's possession some ten years ago." "It is a pleasure for us to contribute this instrument to the college and we trust that it will enhance your services to the public," he continued. A recent appraisal of the guitar places the value at over $800. Crampton retired from the History Department of the University of Utah |
