Peterson noted . that recently the public was shocked by a national survey that showed that a very high percentage of student-aged population had only a vague idea about how the country that gave them their free education was operated. They did not know the names or the titles of municipal officials. The voting record of 18 to 24 year olds reflected little interest in the process that makes government "! operate.
