Show Poetry contest to commemorate birthday Birthday Party on Nov. 11. Each First Prize winner will be prepared to read the prize winning poem. A first prize of $10, will be awarded in the adult and teen catergories a second prize of $8 and a third prize $5. In the children's category, $5 will be awarded for first place, $4 lor second and $:j lor third. The Cedar City Birthday Bir-thday Committee recently announced a poetry contest in commemoration com-memoration of Cedar City's 129th Birthday, November 11. The theme of the contest is "pioneering Cedar City" This theme encourages the poet to write about Cedar City during any of the development of the city. Anyone living within the boundries of Cedar City is eligible to enter . within his or her age group. All entries must be unpublised and must be the official work of the person submitting them. Each entry should be typed, on one side only of 8'2"by 11" paper without identification on the sheet. Each poem should be titled. Children may use a pen and lined 8''2" by 11" paper instead of the typed manuscript. There must be no erasures, strikeovers, or misspelled words. . A sealed envelope must accompany each author's entry or entries, within which there is a card containing the name and address of the author. On the outside of this envelope, en-velope, the catergory, title, and first line of each entry submitted should be typed. This contest will be divided into three categories Category I The children's category, ages 6-12 years, limited to 25 lines. The teen category, ages 13-19 years is limited to 25 lines.
