Show Texaco Sponsors Sixth Opera Richard Strauss' "Der Rosenkavalier" will be the sixth opera of the 1979-80 season to be broadcast over the Texaco-Metropolitan Opera Radio Network on Saturday, January 12, starting at 1:30 p.m., Eastern Time. It will be heard over Station KGSU. Singing principal roles will be Agnes Baltsa in her Metropolitan Opera broadcast debut as Oc-tavian; Oc-tavian; Anna Tomowa-Sintow Tomowa-Sintow as the Marschallin; Judith Blegen as Sophie; Seth McCoy as the Singer; and two other Metropolitan Opera braodcast debuts-Ernst debuts-Ernst Gutstein as Faninal and Aage Haugland as Baron Ochs. Erick Leinsdorf will conduct. During the first intermission in-termission "Opera News on the Air," radio listeners will hear the British musicologist John Culshaw in his "Reflections on 'Der Rosekavalier'." A panel of opera experts to be announced will be on hand for Texaco's Opera Quiz during the second intermission |
