Show Just Between You And He ' jjS ''Rea"Wilson For two of the most enjoyable en-joyable evenings you can spend, don't miss the Courthouse Court-house Players performances of "No Sooner Won Than Wed" and "Butch Cassidy Bites the Bullet". They play alternate nights -Thursday through Saturday, through July. - 0 - We found "No Sooner Won Than Wed" extremely well cast, and directed. Ann Martin was exceptional as Melody Lovesong, and the casting of Merrill Lowe as the villain was a superb contradiction con-tradiction to real life. And Maureen Brown as Ganglia is as adictive as the licorice she is constantly eating. It was almost a flawless production. pro-duction. Superb entertainment! entertain-ment! - 0 "Butch Cassidy Bites the Bullet" suffered possibly from first night jitters, but should develop polish with succeeding performances. Hal Smith as the Itinerant cowhand, Maynard Willis, and Tracy Davis, as Matt Warner, gave convincing and forceful performances, that made the show. And whose eye wouldn't be turned by the beautiful dancing girls played by Lorraine Mcintosh, Mcin-tosh, Delyse Bellon and Nan -cy Mortensen. Ye ol' Ed may not wash his face for a month. And James Ercil Henrie as Judge Powers gave the second act zip, humor and a measure of frontier justice, that won't soon be forgotten. forgot-ten. - 0 - Add to this fine entertainment, entertain-ment, July 24th celebrations in Beaver and Milford and it's a full month for most of us. But don't overlook two fine movies coming to the Firm age Theatre this month. We've had the good fortune to see "Hurricane" and the "North Avenue Irregulars" and both are well above average. aver-age. Both well worth your time, and excellent family shows. , - 0 - j Of course you'll want to j take in the Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City, with performances starting to- j night, July 12th. i Even if you don't care for the classics, you'll find the Bard's works colorful and a memorable ex- : perience. Who says there's no culture in Southern Utah? 0 -A restraining order to stop the sale of city property to i the Park Motel has been ' signed by Judge Burns. We areconvincedthatMil- ( ford City will be vindicated, and that they are following a correct and legiti-mate legiti-mate course. Our only hope is they will not panic, and j be stampeded into backing off and not going through with the deal. This In no way supports I one group of developers over ! another. Nor do we -believe that the sale of city property prop-erty discriminates - one against another. It may well be that at present Milford cannot support two more restaurants and another motel. It's for certain that even one more restaurant will take business from existing ex-isting businesses, if it is to be successful. However, i we believe that this is the perogative of the free enterprise en-terprise system, and that few investors will gamble their capital without suf- 1 ficient study to assure a reasonable return on their Investment. 0 - ; We openly oppose the j present request for spot- ! zoning of 12 lots on the north j end of townto CH as recommended rec-ommended by the Planning Commission. - j This solves nothing, because be-cause a conditional use permit per-mit would still be required if the property is to be developed with a motel and restaurant. This requires further action by the Council. Why not just zone it CD as (Continued on Page 2) - 0 -We just hope that with all the delays and hassle involved in-volved in zoning and restraining res-training orders, that investors invest-ors won't turn their backs , on the area, and look for . another area to invest. HERE'S MORE ABOUT Just Between originally requested, and get it over with. Also in order to avoid a recurrance of this has-sel has-sel in the near future, at least that undeveloped property prop-erty bordering the highway should be included in the CD district. 0 - The only argument against it is to protect residential property. However, this land while included in the annexation annex-ation of Mountain View Estates, Es-tates, was never platted, and never intended forotherthan commercial development. It seems impossible to this writer that those building homes in mountain View Estates Es-tates ever expected other than commercial development develop-ment along that portion ofU-257. ofU-257. It should have been zoned CD on the original planning map, and removed any doubt and a lot of hassle. - 0 - Zoning can be a great aid in the development of any community, if it is done right. But if it provides for minimum or no growth, as does Milford's, it requires a constant revision of the zoning m ap, and a con -tinual hassle. Beaver County's zoning map also restricts development develop-ment of much land that obviously ob-viously should allow com -mercial development. The County Commission is constantly con-stantly petitioned to rezone small parcels of land for one reason or another. Much of which could have been avoided with a proper eye to future development, when the zoning map was adopted. |
