Defensive linemen, Rick Carter and Scott Williams teamed together to nail North Sevier's offense for a minus 9 yards on the first three plays. A blocked punt on the 4th down gave Beaver their first shot at scoring. Beaver quarterback Bruce Carter didn't waste anytime as he tested the Wolves defense de-fense for four plays, for 18 yards and a touchdown. Chad Dalton tested his toe for his first debut, but a chin strap violation returned the ball five yards. However, that presented no problem to the senior place kicker, who again split the uprights for his first PAT. The fate of North Sevier continued as Troy Hallows and crew coughed up the ball again on the next series on their own 39 yard line. Carter immediately went to the air finding running back Kelly Smith for 15 yards. Smith received the call again oh the next play and darted for 24 yards for the second strike. The PAT was good and the Beavers en -joyed a 14-0 margin. Hallows was forced to the air for makeup time and was successful until Chad Dalton stopped the attack with an , interception on the Beaver 1 45 yard line. Beaver was forced to punt on the next series. The Wolves again struck fate, fumbling on their own 35 yard line. Smith went to his fancy cut backs again, galloping for 35 yards but a procedure call cleaned the slate on that play. Intermission gave Beaver the 14 point lead.
