Show ft. Beaver Stake Personality George H. Eyre was born April 22, 1866 in Miners -ville. He later married Emma Walker. When he and his wife were parents of five daughters, George was called to fill a mission in New Zealand and Australia. For three years he traveled without purse or script preaching the gospel. He later became President of the 12th Quorum of Seventy Sev-enty . He was ordained a High Priest by David O. McKay and was sustained Bishop of Minersville ward in 1919 which postition he held until 1928. In 1928 the family sold their belongings in Minersville Miners-ville and moved to South Milford where they farmed and worked the mines in the area. . George was known through the valley for his garden produce, especially the fine melons he raised. He loved to share these things with others. He said, "It is worth . all the work of raising the melons just to see others enjoy en-joy them." . He loved to tell stories and sing songs to his children child-ren and grandchildren. They have many happy memories of times spent with Grandpa Eyre. George was at his best George H. Eyre when administering to the needs of the sick. He helped those stricken with small pox, flu, etc. in the various epidemics which came along, often he would be the only one willing to go in and give assistance. Elder Eyre served as Stake Missionary in Beaver and Parowan Stakes and on the High Council in Beaver Stake. His. family and his Church were the things most precious to him . |
