But then the Tigers cooled cool-ed and the Beavers caught lire and closed the gap to just three points with five minutes left in the game. Milford scored only 10 points in the 4th quarter to 17 for Beaver. Gary Mayer sparked the Tigers with his ball handing, hand-ing, defense and nineteen Points. Roger Don Marshall Pushed in 20 points for the Beavers and the game high. But the Beavers comback rallied around the ball hawking hawk-ing of Steve Gillins, who came off the bench and took charge. He also contributed 9 points. Other Beaver scorers scor-ers were Steve Lowe 11, Joe White 5, Mitch Oakden 4, and David Crook 3. Behind Mayer's 19 points came Mitch Bealer with 12 and an excellent job on the boards before he picked up his fifth foul early in the 4th quarter. Randy Kerr had 10 points and got his share of rebounds. Brad Kirk and Mark Nelson each had eight and Ken Jones 1. Lowe, with his height, made a number of clean blocks and after Bealer fouled foul-ed out was intimidating under the basket. The statistics are particularly particu-larly interesting. There were 36 fouls called. Milford hit 60 of their 6 of 10, off from their normal 80. Beaver hit 16 of 26 for 62. The Tigers grabbed off 36 rebounds to 30 for Beaver. Milford shot 37 from the floor, making 26 of 71. But the Beavers only 46 times, making 18 for 39. This week Milford entertains enter-tains the No. 2 ranked powerhouse pow-erhouse from North Sevier and Beaver goes to Gunnison. Gunni-son. Milford doesn't play after Friday's game until after Christmas, but Beaver has a Wednesday game scheduled sche-duled with Parowan on Dec. 22nd. Elsewhere in Region Eight, Parowan edged Enterprise 70-68 in an overtime. They were tied 64 all at the end of regulation time. The Rams seemed to have it sewed up until they lost their re-bounders re-bounders via the foul route and Brad Fife via a sprain- ' Ted "ankle. Fife returned to action to help clinch the win. Another thriller went to the final three seconds when the visiting Bulldogs' Ron Nay swished the tie breaker with a left-handed lay-up. Kanab led most of the evening, but Greg Hill dunked dunk-ed 10 points in the 4th and the Cowboys' Mark Corry fouled out with two minutes on the clock. The combination combina-tion was al 1 it took . With the score tied 42 all, the ri-Bulldogs ran out the clock and went for the good shot. Kanab will go to Parowan this week and Enterprise gets the Bye. December 22nd it'll be Gunnison at North Sevier and Enterprise at Kanab. |
