Show GARN VOTES U.S. Senator Jake Gam (R-Ut.) said today that he regretted re-gretted having to vote against H.R. . 5901, which makes education appropriations appropria-tions for fiscal year 1976. "It is generally a good bill with many fine programs," he said. "But in my opinion it is a highly inflationary bill. It will cost almost eight billion bil-lion dollars, an excess of one -point -five billion dollars dol-lars over budget extimates. I hope the President will veto it. . "The Senate continues to be fiscally irresponsible in almost every appropriation bill by spending more money than the President requests, more than the House approves and more than the Senate's own budget ceilings. This bill appropriates $399-million $399-million more than the House approved, $1.7-billion more than the President asked and $1.5-billion over the Senate's Sen-ate's own estimates. I cannot can-not support this kind of fiscal irresponsibility." |
