Show Sores, Lumps On Minersville Fish Not-Harmful Not-Harmful To Eat Many fishermen are complaining com-plaining about the fish at Minersville Reservoir having hav-ing lumps and sores on the body of the fish. A sample of the fish have been analyzed ana-lyzed by pathologists from the Division of Wildlife Resources Re-sources Research Station in Logan. It was determined that the abnormalities are i caused by a ParasidicCope-pod ParasidicCope-pod which attaches itself under the scales and causes a secondary infection. This small transparent worm has been found periodically in several waters in northern Utah and becomes more active ac-tive and abundant when water temperatures be come warmer than usual. These small parasites do not affect the edibility of the fish if they are well cooked. Many people prefer to skin the fish before cooking, which may make them more appealing but is not necessary. |
