Show FIRE BUG HITS AGAIN: Two more bad fires last Saturday morning destroyed the center section of stalls at the Milford Fairgrounds and race track and a garage on 200 South street. Arson is suspected in both fires. The first alarm sounded sound-ed at 3:10 a.m. and firemen were still fighting this fire when the second alarm sounded at 4:20 a.m. The center section of six corrals were completely destroyed, de-stroyed, including all hay, grain, and tack stored in the stalls. The first fire fighters on the scene were able to release re-lease all the horses except one. That horse, belonging to Ray Barnes, was so badly burned that it had to be shot. The second fire was in a garage, the last one on South 200 West Street, on property owned by Don Anderson from Calif. The home, which was unoccupied, was saved. The garage was a total loss. It was completely engulfed in flames when discovered. Bishop Leon Jones, who lives just across the street to the west, reported that his phone rang several times, and when he picked up up the phone, there was no answer. Thinking he was being called by the Union Pacific, he began to check when he noticed the flames out the window and reported the fire. Authorities are investigating investi-gating all possible leads. Curfew laws are being strictly enforced to age 18. Residents are urged to report re-port any suspicious activities. |
